RE: Rain folded my awning, can I replace?

GSF: Thanks, I'm sure that'll be helpfull. Marsha & Buck(since I don't know which one of you are helping here..hehe): Yes, I was thinking the same thing. There are some holes caused by the glass table it broke about 6 inches from the end. So I was thinking of getting it shortened 6 anyway.

RE: Rain folded my awning, can I replace?

Thanks guys. Wa8yxm: That, combined with previous comments, makes it seem so much easier. I had every intention of using the dremel, so I'm glad you confirmed it should work. Great! John: Funny thing is that it was down about 4". I had it at the exact same angle as the trailer behind me. He was just fine. My issue is that it was such a fast rain it couldn't get off fast enough and it created a little pool... Then this pool of course collected more water and it was a vicious cycle until BANG. Marsha&Frank: Yep, I'm hoping to get out of this within a couple hundred dollars and lots of experience. There are a couple of punctures at the end where the glass table it shattered punctured. But very easy to patch if I'm going to bother.

RE: Rain folded my awning, can I replace?

Can't do insurance. Just put a claim in (see mention of previous accident) so we are on our own.

RE: Rain folded my awning, can I replace?

Thanks guys, that's what I'm thinking. I'm hoping I can get the material out without too much damage. This is the third "accident" we've had with the RV and we just got it. She's thinking that our luck sucks.

Rain folded my awning, can I replace?

So I had the angle happening with the awning. Mine was the only one in the park that folded in a recent massive downpour. So, the tube that you roll up the awning onto folded in half. Someone else in the park has one that they took off theirs to put a hard awning/room on. It's a couple feet too long. Could I not drill out the rivet, pull out the awning (do the same with mine)... then use a hacksaw and cut their "tube" down to my size, thread my awning back in and remount? It must be possible to remove the awning because you can get it replaced. So I'm going to attempt this anyway, I was just hoping for a couple things to watch out for (Spring tension on the other end is one). I figure for the spring tension, it's much like a really big blind, so I need to mount it with a couple twists before hand so it stays tight against the trailer.

RE: Fridge - keeps blowing out when on gas.

What about a good cleaning? Perhaps the flame is stable when still, but not enough gas flow for wind?

RE: Aircard Question

If you like the speed and you have a good data plan, there is no reason to pay for both. However, if you have a significant other or family member that will use the internet while you are gone and thus bringing the internet with you, it won't go over well.

How to fix low water pressure

I have been in two parks that have had reasonably low water pressure. It won't be low for everyone, just our TT it seems. If I fill the fresh water tank and run the pump, I get better pressure. However, it will go through the fresh water at 1/2 the rate of fresh water alone. So what can be done? Can I run the pump without water in the fresh water tank? Will the city fitting keep the pump primed so there is pressure? What can I do? I have removed the pressure disk thing in the shower, but that only helps a bit.

RE: 3600/5300 Craftsman Generator

I think that the cost value of your purchase is good! However, some posters have a point. Make sure the noise it puts off is not going to disrupt you. You mentioned no one else is around, so you don't have to worry about courtesy, but you do have to live with the noise (or lack, depends on your tolerance). I personally sleep very well with white noise, so running a generator all night would put me to sleep. You may not be the same.

RE: I asked the CHP how they determine load rating of TV's

EPenney, So clear this up for me. I'm pulling an RV, and to determine (according to the law) if it's overloaded, they are going to look at the max weight rating of my rear tires and measure how much weight is on them? I think that's what you said, but I want to be clear. This isn't just a 5er thing, but any towed rv, right?

RE: rubber ring vs wax ring for toilet

I agree with Lynn. The rubber (foam) will keep a better seal than the wax. Wax at home, foam in motion. That kinda sounds dirty doesn't it. Anyway, go with rubber/foam.

RE: Sound Level Tests of Honda and Champion Generators

I wish I could understand the db and loudness gauges. I know the whole double volume after so many db etc. But that doesn't really help me understand if 68 is a lot better than 71. Of course, the above mention of running the air conditioner at the same time... would that add a lot to the noise, or just fill in a little more white noise (running the crown vic next to the generator...would you hear an increase in overall noise?)

RE: Racoon vs Miniture wiener dog

Yes, agreed. The larger raccoons would have the strength and intelligence to take care of the little guy. However, I'm just glad that it either was a small one, or wasn't feeling it was worth the hassle.

Racoon vs Miniture wiener dog

Well, to say that I am thankful is an understatement.... My wife, 2.5 yr old son and two miniature long haired dachshunds were camping a couple weekends ago. There was noise out our door and my wife tells me it's a raccoon and to go move the recycling away so they don't bug us. So I open the door and all of a sudden there is a blur out across the front of the trailer and into the woods. I was amazed on how fast those things will move. So I closed the door. My wife asked where the dogs were and I didn't notice either of them near my feet so I said they were still asleep I guess (they sleep on piles of dirty clothes at other end of trailer). So a while later I wake up to a quiet bark. So I open the door and my larger of the two (more brave) comes in. Well, didn't I just about******myself. That blur was my wiener dog tearing after the raccoon. So I check him over for bites, scratches, etc. Nothing. I'm really impressed he came back to the door as we were in a campground and there were lots of other trailers. He's up on all his shots, so that's good too (including the beaver fever etc). I know that these little dogs were bred to hunt down weasel holes etc, which explains there interest in dark paces and why they like to burrow under the cloths, sheets etc. Also explains why they can be pretty ferocious towards same/smaller animals if they are cornered. I'm actually rather proud of the little guy, although I have no intention of putting him in that position again. (the raccoon didn't return ;) )

RE: HELP!! Flooded TT

Also, go rent one of those floor fans. They are those ones that look like a conk shell and blow air on floors to dry them in commercial establishments. They push a LOT of air.

RE: FBI warning about wifi security

It's not so much the encryption of the contents, but also someone sniffing the network would be able to see your username and password to get in to your mail or whatever. Most people use common passwords, so it's likely that the same password might get you into your ebay, other forums, maybe your work or bank... blah blah. It's information gathering that is the culprit, not so much your discussion privacy.

RE: Does this RV exist?

A lot of manufacturers will do custom if you don't mind the wait (and cost).
